My client contact:
A student tutor and researcher outgrowing a template site built to sell lessons.
Maxematics started as a tutoring practice — a way for Max Schwarzkopf to teach math and science one-on-one — and its original Adobe-built site said exactly that: a services page for parents shopping for help.
The audience had moved on. Max was fielding more inquiries than he could take, doing molecular engineering lab work on protein folding, and heading into college applications, scholarship reviews, and research placements. The people opening the link were no longer parents comparing tutors. They were admissions readers, scholarship committees, engineering program reviewers, and internship evaluators — people who scan for evidence, not offers.
The site had to stop selling and start substantiating.

Starting productized, finishing bespoke: one brief built at three levels.
The brief ran through our productized pipeline first — a structured spec, assembled into a working Next.js site with no bespoke code. That output set the floor. Max started on the $500 productized build, then upgraded to a bespoke engagement: the same content, hand-directed, plus a full brand revamp. Three levels of one brief, each decision made with a working site already in front of the client.
We designed around how an evaluator actually reads: identity, then proof, then breadth, then voices, then a single low-friction way to make contact. The subject catalog was regrouped into math, science, language, and test prep — twelve topics shown at a glance, with no curriculum sales pages behind them. Credentials that had been buried in prose became a visible wall of markers: the Anne Frank Humanitarian Award, Cum Laude Society, AP Scholar with Distinction, and research work at the Reddy Lab, USF Morsani College of Medicine. Five real student and parent testimonials were woven through a carousel rather than parked in a single block, so proof reappears at every scroll depth.
The identity was rebuilt alongside the site, not bolted on after it. The logotype replaces the x in max with a true multiplication sign set in the brand violet — same case, same weight, same x-height, so the name is marked without spending any of the visual weight the logomark already owns. It was chosen over nine alternatives, then drawn as real vector artwork: the logomark rebuilt from the client's original Illustrator file, the logotype outlined from Sora 700 so nothing depends on a font being installed. It ships as two lockups — horizontal for digital, vertical split at the × for square and narrow formats — in five colourways, including a single-ink violet for one-screen printing. The full delivered system, with usage rules, is published at the Maxematics identity page, and the decision trail behind it at the process appendix.
Visually, the practice grew up. The palette moved from a saturated tutoring look to violet on near-black with alternating light and dark sections, a Sora and Instrument Sans pairing, and restrained motion — animated gradients, floating math glyphs, and reveal-on-scroll that read as engineered rather than noisy. Desktop-first, because the audience evaluates on a laptop, but fully responsive. The delivered build is custom-coded, not templated.
